Name: ANDREW CAMERON

Date Joined:
Previous club(s): LAIGHSTONEHALL ACCIES,WESTERLANDS,QUEENS PARK FC,EAST KILBRIDE WANDERERS.

BIOGRAPHY
Has improved beyond recognition since he spent one year with Queens Park under-15s,and was runner-up in the Players Player of the Year vote last season at Laighstonehall Accies, who won the Cumbernauld Cup and finished runners-up in the league.

Was Player of the Year at under-14 level in two seasons with East Kilbride Wanderers.

Andrew,older brother of Ewen Cameron,
was a summer coaching course winner in the same year as Christopher Howson and Bearsden-based David McKeown, who went on to play for Rangers, Queens
Park and currently Dumbarton F.C.

Andrew gained added more experience training with Rutherglen Glencairn and Vale of Clyde juniors, where he openly admits "the training was great".

Hardly surprising, therefore,he found the step-up to playing with the newly created Blantyre Vics Juniors' youth project as a virtual stroll in the park.

Said Andrew: "We do a goalkeeping session on a Tuesday evening at Bent Parks,Hamilton, and then circuit work in Larkhall two nights later."

A former Kit Award winner at Shot Stoppers,Andrew played in the Vics team which reached the Glasgow City Cup final - but lost 2-1 against Port Glasgow Boys Club - at Glasgow Green in August,2007.

Ironically,Port also put Blantyre out of the 2008 Scottish Challenge Cup,but Vics will not be far away from domestic honours, and are sitting second top of the Scottish Amateur Youth League.

Said Tom Scott: "Andrew Cameron is another example of what hard work can bring in terms of application and improvement.

"He worked his way out of Group One,
and only had about six weeks in the next group before being picked out by coach Christopher Todd for yet another step-up.

"The quality of his workrate, tempo and serving from hand or ground means you are always guaranteed the highest possible standard from Andrew on a weekly basis.

"If his younger brother can follow the same path to success,we will have another outstanding prospect at Shot Stoppers."

In May, 2009, Andrew reached the final of the Scottish Cup
with Blantyre Vics, but they were beaten 1-0 by Fife
favourites Lochgelly Albert at Airdrie United's ground.
