History

1997 - 2011
07 Apr 2011

They were formed in the 1997-1998 season by now chairman Jon Harrison after requests for games from other companies in the area. Harrison also managed the club for the first 2 years of it's history.

It was decided to play Sunday League due to the fact a lot of staff work on Saturdays in Sky’s contact centre at the time and started life in the old 2nd Division of the Welfare League.

The club then won it's first honours as they won both the League Cup & Ramsey Kessler Trophy in 1999.

Sky came close to promotion and after going through a few managerial changes, finally gained promotion under then manager Keith Allan in the 2001-2002 season to the Premier league only to get relegated the following season.

They again gained promotion in season 2004-2005 back into the Premier league and finished a very respectable 4th place.

Season 2005-2006 saw them under the new Manager Scott Mortimer who was later joined by player Colin Quinn and for the second season in a row saw them finish in 4th position in the Premier League.

Season 2006-2007 saw the club funded by Sky who also became the home strip sponsor however the club went through changes with the departure of Scott and a few players. Colin Quinn then took on the responsibility of running the club, and saw immediate success by adding to the clubs honours list by winning the Pitreavie Memorial Pre-season Tournament in which many other clubs from the league participate in along with a number of other Amateur clubs. Sky FC however experienced a difficult season & escaped relegation due to additional teams leaving and others joining the League the following season.

The club then celebrated it's 10th Anniversary in the 2007-2008 season which saw Colin Quinn take on soul responsibility as Club Manager which also saw the club announce a new 2 year away kit sponsorship deal with the digital Television channel The History Channel. The club finished in 8th place out of the 9 clubs who participated in the Premier Division that season however the club also earned a place in the 2007-2008 Sandy Walls Cup final after being defeated in the Semi Final of the competition only to later be re-instated after their semi-final victors were eliminated due to player irregularities. Going into the game as massive underdogs, Sky won the Cup by defeating league champions Blairhall Village Bar 3-2 in the final.

The 2008/2009 season saw Sky finish in 10th place out of the 15 teams who participated in the League.

Former Dunfermline United FC manager John Paterson then joined Colin Quinn in helping managing the club for the 2009/2010 season and the club finished in 8th place out of the 12 teams who participated in the Premier Division.
