SAINTS LOOKING TO GET BACK ON TITLE TRACK...
22 Feb 2012

Saints will be looking to bounce back to form this Saturday when they entertain Pelsall Villa at Banbury Road, kick off at 3.00pm.

Last Saturday, Saints promotion hopes suffered a blow at Bloxwich United when, after leading 3-1 with half an hour to go, they lost 4-3 in the dying minutes.

Reflecting on the match, manager Luke Fogarty said. “They are a good side who showed a lot of spirit and determination, but we had the quality play and could have put the match beyond reach but for the woodwork and some goalmouth clearances.”

“We talked to the players at half-time about how we could restrict their opportunities and build on our lead, but we got bogged down on the pitch and, in a match of tight margins, lost out to some soft goals.”

Fogarty will be waiting anxiously on news of the fitness of striker Neil Stacey who went off with a shin injury at Bloxwich. “Neil was having one of his best games for us and looked sharp alongside Simeon Smith” said the Saints boss.

Villa come into the match on the back of a 2-1 defeat at neighbours Walsall Wood on Tuesday night, but Saints will not underestimate the challenge and need three points to keep up with the top teams.

Good news for Saints fans is the re-signing of former player-of-the-year Simon Proctor who will add strength to the defence and midfield and could be in line to make his debut on Saturday in place of the injured Quentin Townsend.

Leaders Bolehall Swifts drew 2-2 at Castle Vale and are away again on Saturday when they visit fourth-placed Coventry Copsewood. Continental Star are also away at Bartley Green, whilst Brocton go to Castle Vale JKS.

Racing Club Warwick, who lost 3-0 at Nuneaton Griff on Wednesday, are at home to Bloxwich United, now winners of their last seven matches. Pershore Town take on Earlswood Town and Pilkington XXX are at home to Cadbury Athletic.
