Southend Ladies 0 – IFK Hedemora FK 5
Although the new Southend United Ladies FC team lost the match on Saturday morning against our friends from Sweden, they did use this match to its highest potential – to see who plays better in which positions.
After a fraught first half, where all 5 goals were scored, a half-time chat from Blues Ladies Manager, Sarah Bundy, boosted the girls’ confidence and they kept a clean sheet for the remaining 45 minutes. Many comments from the crowd praised the girls for such a fantastic turnaround.
Comments from the Manager: “I expected it to be a hard game, but in the second half we were a completely different team. The girls made me very proud, as we held off our opposition for the last 45 minutes.”
The turnout to support the girls was fantastic, and this really pushed the girls on to prove that they are back with vengeance. Both teams would like to thank all the supporters who came along to cheer them on – and hope to see them at future pre-season friendlies, and of course for the forthcoming season!
The girls are now eagerly awaiting the Essex FA’s decision as to which League they will be playing in next season.
