a strong spinney team seemed to ride our luck against the onslaught. one tip over from jambo, followed by a goal mouth scramble block from zola, and jambo managing to throw his hand infront of the shot to keep the score at 0-0.
welshy's troublesome hamstring came back to haunt him as he limped off a little into 10/15 minutes, and a sliding goal line block from jambo saw him sliding knee first into the post....only for a belated whistle from the ref to give offside!!!!!!!!!!
last minute blocks from the bear and scott helped us keep the score still at 0-0, with underwoods squandering some clear cut chances.
a ball through the defence saw spinney go 1-0 down as our resilience finally crumbled.
halftime saw jambo join welshy on the injury list as we battled into the wind with a change of formation.....the 4-5-1 style allowed us time in the midfield but hoof and panic balls left ashley with nothing decent to chase.
underwoods added a second when al's clearence header unluckily took the ball over scott and onto the head of their striker, before a break down the left allowed a player to run striaght through and slot home.
i actually didnt see the fourth because i was putting my 3/4's on...lol although i do believe someone lost their man...so most likely a corner.
the ref: again gave us nothing more then the usual....did seem more concerned for players injured, however when everyone heard their player call "take him out" he did nothing, not even a word to the player.
i think it summed it up by the fact we didnt have a single shot on target lads........i didnt think 4-5-1 was the best option to go with, we were already losing and we needed if anything to go for it. however hindsight is a wonderful thing, and if 4-5-1 had worked i wouldnt be saying this now.
was good to see a full squad to choose from, and was glad to see mar-tain get his chance.
as players we need to learn our positions.....too many times we either didnt support ash as the lone striker, or he was dropping in to get the ball and then there was no forward whatsoever.
we need to get back on it next week lads!!!!!
jambo's birthday shennanigans on this coming friday 25th January. be there or your a loser!!!!!
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
