Alf Hearsum first formed Spirit of Youth Junior Football Club some 27 years ago. The belief was that every child irrespective of ability deserved a chance to play football. Initially, "Spirit" as it is affectionately known, had only one team in the league. Now in its present day format, it boasts teams from the ages of 6 to 16 years old. The club was awarded the coveted FA Charter in 2006.
