Scott Dixon (2)
Kirkham Juniors 0

This season Spirit have not played as much football as many of our opponents. That said we have not played as well as what we did today, in previous weeks we have battled against strong teams and at times struggled and failed to get 3 points.
Today we Played football, we Passed the ball, we Worked as a Team and we got the Result we Deserved. The Keeper stayed tuned in even though he had little to do. The defence worked hard, talked to each other and had time to use the ball, take their time and not panic, unlike previous games. The midfield kept their shape and assisted in attack and defence. The 2 strikers chased and pressurised throughout the game. With 4 subs freezing and wanting some football, it was a game that we did not want to bring anyone off the pitch because no player was letting the side down. Even when we did bring the subs on we continued to play football and put pressure on Kirkham.
Scott Dixon got the first goal ten minutes into the second half with a cracking header from a Jordan Leigh corner. This goal was well worth waiting for as we had dominated possession throughout the first half and Spirit continued to perform well and it would only be a matter of time before we got another if we continued playing passing football. Up pops Scott again this time with a strike from outside the box 2-0.

Despite the cold weather today’s game was the best the Team have played all season, it does not matter who scores for us, as long as we are scoring goals resulting from Team play. Football played like it was today, with short controlled accurate passes and all the Team performing as One is a pleasure to watch and is even more pleasurable when we get 3points!
