SIXTH place Barnoldswick Town won this game on the back of their 9-0 earlier drubbing of bottom placed Stone Dominoes, as Gate manager Garry Hargreaves continues to seek his first league win. In a competative first half and Gate giving debuts to another two players it was hard to tell which team was at the top and bottom of the North West Counties Premier Division, it took Barlick 60 minutes to open their account over a much more organised Gate side, Ian Chapman managed a low hard shot which unfortunately beat Gate's keeper Neil Beesley.
On 75 minutes they doubled their score, when a low cross along the six yard box was tapped in the net which only just beat Beesley by the visitors forward Stuart Airdrie, Gate responded well for the remainder of the game but could'nt just get that final touch to reduce the scoreline, Danny Cooper and Luke Perry had shots blocked by the aerobatic Barlick keeper, Gate threw everything at the visitors goal Josh Miller was outstanding and was unlucky not to score, but in the end that little bit of luck again was not on Gate's side.
After the game the Gate manager added "Great first half, we were unlucky in front of goal, against a good side, i'm piecing this team together, Nickolaus at the back did ever so well, we were compact in midfield, Alan Coar battled tirelessly up front, but things aren't just falling right for him right now, but know him as I do i'm sure it's only a matter of time, come another day, and another team I know we'll get the results, so we'll carry on working hard on the training ground, and look forward to our next game this Saturday against Stockport Sports".
