How It All Started |
Season 2004/05 saw Butch, Gaines, Duece, Tomo and Slim playing for T.C Contracts. As this season came to an end the team folded, leaving five players feeling gutted at the prospect of no football.
Not wanting to be split up, the idea of building their own team was born.
With the deadline gone for registration to the league for season 2005/06 there future all together in a football team looked bleak.
Butch, Gaines, Duece, Tomo and Slim started training with St Annes Football Club, playing little if any football throughout the season.
With registration time looming for season 2006/07, they had no idea how to get started.
Butch asked Ada (St Annes FC manager) for some advice. It was decided that we were to register as St Annes B team.
Ada sorted out the paperwork for us, our registration, home pitch and our insurance, all we had to do was get some funding, and most importantly a TEAM!!
Sunday June 4th 2006, 10.30 am at Bluebell Park, was our first training session. Butch, Gaines, Duece, Tomo, Evo, Tom, Maty and Dec all turned up.
The start of St Annes B FC, eight players and a football!!
Next step was to enrol a manager. This is where Trevor Colloff gets involved. From day one he has believed in this team and been behind them 110%, earning him a lot of respect from the players along the way.
Dec also took on his official role as coach.
Every Sunday from then on they met for training. With word of mouth the team was rapidly increasing in players with Slim, Anthony and Charlie attending training. By July we had Tabbs and his brother Andy, Nick, Leaver and Kurt, all showing skill and dedication to the team.
By this time was also training on a Wednesday evening at Babbs Mill as well.
The team was coming together better than was ever anticipated.
We had just one very big problem, FUNDING! We had nothing except a football.
This is where we realised just how committed every team member was. Everyone agreed to pay a £20, with some players putting in a lot more as we did have to pay fees to the league, pitch fees, insurances, training equipment, nets, corner flags, medical bag etc. basically everything to get this club up and running.
Luckily by this time we had found a sponsor, REVIVAL, had agreed to buy us a new kit.
Things were looking up.
We need a team captain, Trevor appointed Tom McGeever for this role then Vice Captain went to the vote with Thomas (Tabbs) Tabberor being chosen.
All we needed now was some experience on the pitch playing as a team against some opposition. This is where Butch and Trevor organised some friendly match’s for us.
FRIENDLYS
16TH July, Marston Green Lions, we won 3-1 scoring for us was Gaines and a past player Craig who scored two goals.
23rd July, Sporting Chelsea, we won 4-1 our goal scorers were, Charlie, Gaines, Nick and Craig.
6th August, Telford, here we won 5-0. Scoring on this day was Anthony, Evo, Slim and Gaines who scored two goals.
10th August we played Marston Lions again, but this time we lost 1-0.
16th August, Chelmsley Centurion, we won this match 3-2. Goal scorers were Duece and Nick with two goals.
20th August saw us play Holy Souls, we lost this match 2-0.
Doing well in our friendly matches gave the lads the chance to form a genuine bond both on and off the pitch, which is why I believe we play so well together.
As the beginning of the season was on us, we had signed new players. We went from eight players to twenty-six in two months, because of this as we predicted some players left, however we still had Karl onside.
We began the season full of energy, enthusiasm and dedication, ignoring the rumours going around that St Annes B team were c**p.
By the third game of the season we had signed Leigh, Grady and Freeman who have all in their own way and skills added to the strength and passion for football that is St Annes B FC.
Good Luck for the season lads.
Keep enjoying the football!!!

Fundrasing Disco |
Friday 29th Sept saw us hold our first disco. The aim of this was to supply all the players with, allweather jackets promoting the football team.
It was a really good turn out with a good night had by all.
We rasied over £600.00, which covered the cost of the disco and all the jackets with a bit left over, which went into the club funds.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for there support.
We will see you all at the end of the season party!!
