Staplehurst returned to action after 2 cancelled games and looked sluggish early on against Hollingbourne. The deadlock was broken halfway through the first half by Blake and was soon followed by Calum's first goal for over four years, a neat near post finish from a corner, which made it 2-0 & seemingly put Monarchs in control of the game. Hollingbourne rallied though and scored right on half-time to reduce the deficit, before going one further within 3 minutes of the second half by scoring again to bring the scores level at 2-2.
An end-to-end period then ensued before Blake's well taken second of the game put Staplehurst back in front. Further goals came for Staplehurst from Jake & Simon before Hollingbourne, showing excellent spirit, responded again to bring the score to 5-3.
A very entertaining game, played in an excellent spirit by both teams, was concluded with Metin's deserved goal to finish the game in a 6-3 victory for Staplehurst.
