Goalkeeper found??.......well maybe!!! |
Tom came along for our friendly match against the Real 60 Wildcats (match report available)and acquited himself fantastically with some great saves. It is always hard joining an established team whether you are eight or eighteen or,like me, much older but we hope that Tom will be part of our campaign for more footballing fun and success next season.

WANTED - GOALKEEPER!!! |
As we look forward to next season, we would like to recruit a regular goalkeeper as this season we've rotated the position amongst the boys.
You can contact Stuart via the website for more information if your child would like to join a great bunch of lads for next season.

Well done, lads!!! |
14th April 2008 - The last message on this page was way back at the start of the season on 29th August 2007. Wow! So much has happened since then with some great games played and a few spectacular results achieved and even four goals that mysteriously got lost along the way! - thankfully it didn't matter in the end!
The boys have acquitted themselves fantastically both during training and on match days and deservedly won their League.
Next season will prove a stiffer challenge in the Premiership against the other Leagues' top teams but it's one that the boys will positively relish not to mention the old war horses, Mark and Stuart.
Often repeated, but just once more, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone that has helped make this such an enjoyable first season for Mark and I. Thanks, therefore, to the boys and their parents, particularly those that were able to actively assist on match days (you know who you are!), to our sponsors, WCS Contractors and Manser Electrical, to Lee, who refereed most of our games and provided inspirational advice along the way, to Nigel B, the fountain of all knowledge for all my questions and lastly, but by no means leastly, to Mark for his unending enthusiasm, wise counsel on occasions and his calm reaction when he discovered that I'd 'amended' most of his Match Reports!!!
Cheers to you all, ST.

THANK YOU!!! |
29th August 2007 - With the season shortly about to commence, I would like to make some public "thank you's".
Firstly, to our sponsors, WCS Contractors and Manser Electrical Contractors Limited whose generousity has enabled us to purchase new kits and kitbags for all the boys.
Secondly, to all the officials at the Club, but most notably our Chairman Nigel Best, whose assistance behind the scenes has enabled Mark and I to have a relatively easy start in Boys Football Club management.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the parents and boys of our squad. Without mentioning anyone in particular we would like to express our appreciation to all those parents who have supported us and your continued assistance is greatly valued. Your lads have been a pleasure to train with and Mark and I hope that we can offer them further development as footballers over the coming years and that together we might enjoy many happy and successful seasons of football.

Welcome Michael!! |
29th August 2007 - You can always make room for quality!!
Having said that we would probably run with a squad of ten players, we've signed on an eleventh!!! Mark told me about Michael whilst I was away on holiday and having seen him at just one training session I believed he was right. Michael will further add tenacity into an already competitive midfield with his willing ability to keep chasing lost causes and make big tackles to win the ball. He has good distribution and an eye for goal too so will be another valuable asset in the squad.

To those lads that didn't make it this time........ |
25th August 2007
Throughout the course of the past year probably in excess of thirty boys have attended the Development Squad.
Some, it was clear from the start, were never going to make footballers but all added something different to the Development Squad as a whole.
Despite the often very wet winter weather a nucleus of players began to form to which a few notable additions have been made along the way, but this posting is not about them. Of the twenty or so other lads, half a dozen were contenders for the squad up until recently and I wish to thank them for their contributions to our Saturday training sessions and to extend my encouragement to them both on and off the pitch. As children develop at different rates at different stages of their lives, it would not surprise me to see them on a Monarchs' football pitch at some point in the future. I only hope that they are on our side!!!

The squad is complete.........well nearly!!! |
25th August 2007
I am delighted to say that both Rhys and Joshua have signed on and that we now have the ten that we anticipated the squad would operate with.
Job done..........well not quite!!!
Although he has has only been along for three weeks, Michael has impressed both Mark and I enough to warrant signing on an eleventh member for the squad which we hope to complete before the start of the season.

Just back from holiday............. |
24th August 2007
.............and it's football, football, football!!!
I am hoping that whilst I have been away the boys will have been working hard at Saturday training under Mark's guidance and that Rhys and Josh will have organised their dads into sorting out their paperwork!!! This should complete our squad but leaves us with the two available places in hand if required.

Squad Selection |
21st July 2007
Following an excellent year in the 'Development Squad' eight players have now signed on.
Selection trials are underway at our Saturday training sessions with the final two places likely to be filled within the next couple of weeks. This will leave us with two further squad places 'in hand' should David Beckham decide to give up life in California and move to Staplehurst!!
