ABOUT THE CLUB

*** 25TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR ***

St Albans Rangers FC, founded in 1985, provides football for a range of age groups with home pitches being located at Harperbury Hospital (WD7 9HF). The club has 17 youth league teams, ranging from U9s to U18s, including three girls teams, as well as an adult side. The youth teams play in the Watford Friendly League (Sundays) and the Herts Girls Football Partnership League (Saturdays). The adult side plays in the Amateur Football Combination (Saturdays).

Our Community Football programme caters for U6s, U7s and U8s players, the U8s typically forming the nucleus for one or (more recently) two U9s teams for the following season.

The club has an ethos of player and team development. It is important that our young players have all the fundamental skills required to play all sports, and the club supports the concept of LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) where the focus is on training the correct skills at an early age. It is this approach that fosters a good relationship between the players and coach, and is the underlying reason why more of our players stay with the club up to U18s, and beyond into adult football.

Each year the U12s - U14s teams participate in an exchange tour with the Dutch club zsv Zelos, who are based near Arnhem. This exchange has been taking place since 1993, and is unique in as much as the players and leaders stay throughout the trip with host families to fully experience the Dutch way of life and culture.

In 2001, the club gained the FA Charter Standard Development Club Award, one of the first in the country to achieve this, and in 2007 won the Herts FA and FA Eastern Region Club of the Year award in this category.

In 2009, the club has registered as a Charity (reference 1130881).

What do you think of coloured football boots?
