The U12/13 Belles (2008/09) are again sponsored by Barkers Estate and Letting Agents of London Colney (Training Jackets) and McDonald's London Colney (Playing kit). However in recognition of the U11/12 Belles winning the Purple Division of the U11/12 Girls Mid Herts Rural Minors League, McDonald's London Colney have supllied the girls with match day polo shirts. The team picture is of Mark Simpson (Manager/Coach) with the U12/13 Belles wearing their new sponsored polo shirts before their first league match of the season.
This is the second season that the Belles are playing 'girls only' league football, following the success of last seasons U11/12 Belles who were unbeaten in the league. Some of the girls joined the club's 'mixed' team, the U10 Sharks where they played football with and against boys and Karla Simpson (Captain) has been with the club since she was an U7 where she started out in our Community Football programme.
The U12/13 Belles will this season move up from 7 aside to 9 aside football, where offisde will be introduced. The Belles will play their matches on either Pitch 1 or 3 at Harperbury and they'll be competing in the Pink Division of the newly formed Hertfrdshire Girls Football Partnership League (a Charter Standard League working in conjunction with the Herts FA and supporting the FA Respect Programme).
The other 6 teams in this division are:
- Bedmond Youth
- Bedwell Rangers
- Berkhamstead Raiders
- Harpenden Colts
- Panshanger Yellows
- Sherrardswood & Birchwood Rangers
The U12/13 Belles Squad currently has 10 league registered players with two others in the process of being registered and four others in our Development Squad that just play in Friendly matches and in the monthly Football Festivals organised through the HGFPL (Herts Girls Football Partnership League).
All the U12/13 Belles train together on a Tuesday evening from 6pm - 7pm under floodlights on the all weather pitch at Boreham Wood FC (effective from 23.09.08).
Should any girl be interested in joining the U12/13 Belles ~ please contact Mark Simpson (Manager/Coach) on 07940 482 077, Michelle Simpson (Team Administrator) on 07958 595 899 or email mark.simpson9@btinternet.com
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
