In an enthralling Herts County Cup match, the U16s beat Acorn Raiders 4-1 in a penalty shoot out after the match ended 2-2 after extra time. George Irving, Dan Orchard, Charlie Craigen, and Matt Chapman clinically despatched the Rangers penalties as the opposition buckled by sending two of theirs over the bar. Rangers had taken an early lead when a Matt Lawrence header from a George Irving corner was helped into the net by a hapless defender, and Matt Lawrence scored another soon after the break to give Rangers a 2-0 lead. However, two penalties brought Acorn Raiders back into the match, and the game became much more open as both teams went for the winner. There was no let up during extra time and it remained all square until the shoot out settled matters. All 12 Rangers players gave an excellent team performance, and Nick Emson was awarded MoM for a battling midfield display.
