The present St Clears football club was reformed in 1965. With so many local lads playing with teams in the Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire leagues. it was decided to call a meeting in one of the then many pubs in the village to get their views in forming their own football team. St Clears AFC entered the pembrokeshire league for the 1965/66 season and suffered a heavy defeat in their opening match. Things improved dramatically and the team went on to win the 3rd division. championship on their first attempt and coming up with the double by winning the 2nd/ 3rd division challenge cup beating 10(Assaye)Bty. in a thrilling final at Pembroke Boro's London Road ground. Season 66/67 saw the team win the 2nd division championship and with a second XI being formed, season 67/68 saw both teams triumphant, with the 1st XI winning the 1st Division championship and the 2nd XI winning the 3rd division championship.

Since those heady days not everything has been quite so rosy, with both teams going up and down the divisions; the 1st XI currently play in the Pembrokeshire League division 2, the second XI in reserve division 1. Very big "plus" points for the club is the number of teams it now runs. On the junior side there are under 9's, 10's, 11's playing friendlies and under 12's, under 14's, under 16's playing league football, together with the 2 senior teams.

Two first class pitches are used at the local St Clears and district leisure centre, with the senior teams retiring to the "Clubhouse" at the Corvus Inn for aftermatch refreshments, kindly supplied by "Mine Host" Emyr Williams and his friendly and efficient staff.

With so many young players coming up through the ranks, club chairman Raymond Williams is very optimistic for the future. The club celebrates it's 35th anniversary this season 1999/2000 and everybody concerned with the running of all team affairs is sure that St Clears AFC will be around for many years to come.
