Today was the last day of the season. It was a game where nothing was at stake. The saints were easily safe and Cardigan were down and out.
The saints had a lot of players out so I would like to thank all players who played. Everyone played very well. Cardigan had 6-7 first team players in the team so the saints knew it was going to be difficult.
The game started and was very even. Nothing much happend in the first half until Rob made 3 fantastic saves. 2 long range efforts and a one on one. Chris was making a fool of the Cardigan left back and was doing very well down the byline. The best chance fell to the 50 pence head of Alun. A cross from Mark found Alun. Alun headed the ball but couldn't direct it goalbound.
It was 0-0 first half. Cardigan got the first goal when Ben scored a rocket from an aquite angle. The saints didn't let that affect them and managed to make it 1-1. A long ball by Dan found the head of Alun who put Owain through. Owain on his weaker right foot smashed the ball into the roof of the net. Rob once again made a superb one on one stop.
End of the season and considering the team Cardigan had out it wasn't a bad result at all. The last few months has seen the saints play a hell of a lot of games and in a way was nice to see the season finish. It started 10 months ago in a wet day down in Narberth. The team has been outstanding getting to 1 final and 1 semi final.
Man of the match today was the easiest all season. Rob couldn't do anything wrong in goal today. Made some fantastic saves, used the ball well and communicated well.
It must be said though that Alun and Justin played very, very well and if it wasn't for Rob's absolutely outstanding performance these 2 could easily have won the award.
We as a team would also like to thank Henty for this season and wish him luck as he is joining the Navy on Sunday.
