Marple Athletic

We performed very well in the first half both Tom's were excellent at the back, BIg Thomas did an excellent job of keeping the big Marple no.7 quiet. Kane worked hard covered a lot of ground, putting in a lot of tackles and passed the ball well ...... On both wings Owen was very good and worked hard for the team tracking back, tackling, and showed some nice skills going forward, Alex K was my man of the match, he worked extremely hard for the team, running back and putting in tackles and his attacking play was also very good, his passing in particular was crisp, accurate and he moved the ball quickly at the right times which will always cause other teams problems.

It really was a game of two halfs though, I think we tired in the second half and lost the team shape, we didn't get enough bodies behind the ball quickly enough when defending, got out-numbered, consequently our marking suffered and the goals starting to come for Marple.

We played 20 mins each way which probably played to strengths of a big fit, athletic Marple team but we'll have to play for longer next season so might as well get used to it !

Nice goal from Joe hooking the ball over his shoulder into the far corner.

Next target is to achieve that first half level but for a full game and if we get that level and work on a few minor things we won't be far off giving a strong team like Marple a real shock ....
