5th Team Report
A great start to the season was short lived in a very unusual and disappointing year. The division was very indifferent with some very good teams and some not so good teams. Unfortunately with seemed to fall into latter with what must be one Stoconians worst sequence of losing matches. The stats will be an interesting read this year. These should also take account of the 35 players used during the course of the season which made it difficult to keep a regular side.
Some of these players have gone on to play for higher teams which is what we need. The likes of Matt Stanford & Charlie Griffiths are doing well at the higher standard, but we usually send more up than that. We are not going to mention all the players as there are too many, but Jake Holt, Steve Wood, John Littlefair, Chris Healey, Luke Sissons, Gabriel Sanchez, Andy Massey and as usual Chris “Ginger Bollocks” Sims. Jake, Chris Healey, John and Steve have been excellent and should move up through the club.
In October we went to Ashtonians knowing a win would put us top of the table but went on to get thrashed 5-1. That was the start of an eleven game losing streak which came to an end against Ashtonians at home when they didn’t turn up! We did go on to win the next game though against Strets just to show it wasn’t a fluke.
These are a few things we noticed this year that stood out: Can’t tackle, cant pass, can’t head, can’t dribble, can’t shoot, can’t score, can’t defend, but apart from that we were OK! Joking apart, we must try and play better next season because this season was just not good enough for Stoconians FC.
Thanks to Bob for all his assistance as usual. Thanks to Luke, One-nil, Simmo and anyone else who has had the pleasure of sharing a Golden Shower with us this season, most pleasurable! Yes, Simmo did have a shower!!! Special mention must go to our international superstar Gabriel Sanchez who has finally gone home to Chile. Cheers Gabby and good luck! Punta – Punta – Shut up!!!!!!!
