Stone Dominoes travelled to title favourites Congleton Town on Tuesday night. In front a large partisan crowd it was the Doms who started strongly and could have and should have been 2 nil up inside the first ten minutes. After just two minutes Matthews found Charlton in the six yard box but the towering midfielder’s header went the wrong side of the post. Minutes later another cross from Matthews found Curley at the far post but his diving header was straight at Town keeper Matt Conkie. After 16 minutes defender Adam Soane stood on the ball and was dispossessed by Matt Haddrell who went on to beat Barry Weston from the edge of the box. On 38 minutes Haddrell doubled the Bears lead curling a free kick down the slope and over the defensive wall. Karl Charlton went close for the Doms just before the interval with a spectacular half volley from distance. The second half saw the Dominoes go close several times notably from free kicks delivered by Andy Matthews from the left hand side into the six yard box. One of these saw Charlton head onto the bar but Congleton road their luck and took all three points to preserve their 100% record
