Report

Shaun Hollinshead gave a debut in central midfield to Jordan White on loan from Kidsgrove Athletic against Padiham with Anthony Marshall returning from long term injury. Danny Roberts retuned in goal after breaking a finger playing cricket. Andy Bourne moved to centre back for the injured Adam Soane. It was Bourne's long range shot that first tested the Storks keeper as the Doms opened brightly. After just 9 minutes Doms took a deserved lead when Lee Talbot shook off the attention of right back Hoskins to send a powerful half volley into the Padiham net. The Storks drew level on 20 minutes when a needlessly conceded free kick was headed in off the bar by Martin Parkes. Doms should have regained the lead when Full back Lowndes fed Marshall who squared1-1 for Karl Charlton to net but the towering midfielder was ruled offside. The Doms finished the half strongly and a great run from Andy Matthews saw him fire in cross that eluded Curley by a whisker.

Doms started the second period in a determined mood and Charlton got on the end of a cross from Matthews but keeper Davis gathered his header from under the bar. Charlton then cut in from the left and was brought down for a stonewall penalty but referee Taylor inexplicably waved away the Doms' appeals. Danny Roberts then had his finger tested diving full length to palm away a smart strike from McLaughlin on 66 minutes. The Doms secured all three points 10 minutes from time courtesy of two substitutes. Neil Edwards on at right back crossed for Dave Shaw who rose like a salmon at the far post to head home. Shaun Hollinshead was delighted with the result “it was a great response from the lads after the defeat in the FA cup replay on Tuesday night. I had to make a few changes due to injuries and non availability but we have depth to our squad and my players are learning to adapt to this level"
