Frustrating is probably the word I would use to sum up this game. Played on Kay Street's 3G Astro turf pitch we started the game very slowly (no changed there then) but for a defence which had never played together before we looked solid at the back. Debutant Adam Watson in particular had a cracking game, winning everything in the air. As the half wore on it looked like we'd find an opening, Ryan Newton has a good chance which was well blocked by the keeper and Rob McDade glancing strike somehow only hit the woodwork and stayed out. Then just before half time Kay Street took the lead through the scruffiest goal seen in a long time from a corner- it should have been cleared at the near post and then the scramble in the box (with some suspect Kay Street challenges) ended with the ball in the back of the net. HT 0-1
In the second half we pushed forward for an equaliser but also tired as the game became more stretched. We couldn't seem to find the killer pass. Dom Southern made a great one-on-one save to keep us in it and then, as injury time approached, Ryan Newton took the ball passed a couple of Kay Street players into the box where he was felled by one or both players... the ref waved play on.
Man of the Match- Adam Watson.
