Skriker Lewis Bates reacted sharply to slot home a loose ball as Stranton edged an evenly fought game.
This was a patchy performance from the home team who had to defend for long spells, and they had keeper Jake McDonough to thank as he pulled off a spectacular save from a fiercely struck free kick.
Captain George Bell almost made it two late on when his header hit an upright.
