Report

Tech bagged another 3 points with an emphatic 6-1 victory over a hard working Greensides.

Tech actually started the game very slowly and struggled to get their flowing football going. Consequently, the first half was a very even affair with Greensides probably having the better chances to open the scoring.

To add to Tech’s woes they had to make two changes due to injuries with both David Doughty and Liam Muir limping off to be replaced by Glenn Thomson and Tyler Gretton respectively.

However, just before the break Tech took the lead with a fantastic individual effort from top scorer Chris Taylor.

The second half was a much more exciting affair with both teams creating plenty of chances.

Tech soon doubled their lead when Taylor fired home from the penalty spot before Adam Laking hit a 25 yarder to make it 3-0 and Tech appeared to be heading for a comfortable 3 points.

However, Greenies were not done just yet and they pulled one back before almost scoring again only to see the ball rebound off the crossbar. At this stage Tech were a little rattled and the next goal was going to be critical.

On the 70 minute mark Taylor burst through again only to be upended by the visitor’s goalkeeper. Taylor dusted himself before keeping his composure to hit home the resulting penalty and this pretty much settled the outcome of the game. Although his claims for the match ball where refuted by treasurer Davey Crannage with the cry “No money for a new ball – need to pay for Magaluf”.

Tech continued to be ruthless in front of goal and added two more to the tally when Kev Auton tapped home with a composed finish before Glenn Thompson completed the scoring after blasting into the top corner of the net.

A very impressive second half performance with both Laking and Tech’s version of Lee Cattermole - Ritchie Jeffries, impressing for the home side.
