1) At what age did you become interested in football?
I must have been 7 when I started to support Man United and that-s when I become interested in it. My Uncle was watching the around my Nan-s and it was the 1977 F.A Cup Final pver 30-years ago. I remember watching Man United beat Liverpool and I-ve been Man United mad since.
2) Did you/do you play? If so who for and what position?
I didn-t start playing till I was 21. I always played as a kid in the park but I never got involved in school football. I then played for Terrington for my whole life. I started to play in midfield on the right or the left and as I got older I moved back into defence. I was better in defence and I played across the
whole defence. I enjoyed it and I was good in the air even if I am small.
3) What made you decide to become a youth football coach?
My boy was interested in it and I wanted him to be interested in it. So I-ve been doing it to give back a bit to the kids as it was something that I never got to chance to do myself.
4) What is your favourite and least favourite aspect of the role?
Favourite: It can be very rewarding to see the kids faces when they win the game. At the age I coach as long as they enjoy it it-s the main thing though.
Least favourite: I don-t like telling the boys off.
5) If you could change one thing about the game what would it be?
I do detest cheating and if there was something that could be bought in to stop it, like video technology, it would be good. I don-t agree it should be used for all decisions though as mistakes can make the game exciting.
