The Tournament was a fantastic weekend of Football & Fun. It would not have been possible without the months of preperation work done by Damon, and the committie and the army of coaches and volunteers who helped out over the actual weekend to set up goals mark out pitches etc. Following their debut at the Reffley Tournament the previous week, the UNDER 7's treated us to another excelent display and yet again have a lot to be proud of. Despite their age the team have a number of players who can play in a number of possitions and there is fierce competition for the keepers spot. They were faced with playing more experienced opposition and came through the test with flying colours. MARCUS & ED have worked hard this year to produce this SUPERB team. Our new look under 8's also played in the tournament and did not look out of place. The team has only been formed in the last few weeks in preperation for next season and IAN has done a FANTASTIC job in putting a side together that passes well, work hard for each other and play attracktive football. Add to this ELLIOT'S experience of having played under 8 football last season, this is yet another WOOTTONS team that will go far. LIONS & TIGERS Our current under 8's entered 2 teams in the tournament, with those representing the TIGERS having the bragging rights over their LIONS team mates following some very close and exciting games. We also had the pleasure of REFFLEY & HEACHAM entering teams and witnessed some of the finest football played this season by all teams. All 4 Woottons keepers had to be at their best and the coaching they received from IAN DAMON & CLAUSE was there for all to see. Although he has not been able to train WILL came back into the squad and put in an outstanding performance. The giant keeper stood firm when faced with a one on one situation and was not beaten. When playing outfield he tackled and passed well. JAKE T, OLLIE and THOMAS have trained well and came in to play an important part in their first tournament for the team. FIN fresh from his debut last week continued where he left off and didnt put a foot wrong. As for the rest KIERON LIAM JOE K JAKE S HARRY WES SAMER BRANDON CONNOR GEORGE JOE T, you will have to wait. MORE TO FOLLOW
Firstly we would like to thank Reffley for inviting us to the tournament, which we realy enjoyed. With under 7 and under 8 teams, making up a world cup group Woottons Under 8's were given the hounor of representing Italy and our Under 7's were representing Spain, with England Brazil Potugal and Holland making up the group. Under 7's Squad JAKE KEANE OLIVER JOSHUA AMY KATIE HARRY LIAM. Every single one of these players put in FANTASTIC performances all day long and should be proud of how they played. Even though they were playing against more experienced teams they passed the ball and defended well, with the goal keepers making fine saves. If they keep up this level of play they will be a force to be reckoned with next season. WELL DONE UNDER 7'S The Under 8's saw FIN play his first tournament for the team alongside veteran campainers KIERON LIAM JOE T SAMER JOE K WES HARRY BRANDON. We saw many memorable moments during the day. KIERON chipping the keeper from just inside the opposition's half. LIAM takig out 4 defenders with a lovely back heel. HARRY keeping his cool and waiting for 2 defenders to come at him before passing the ball between them to create a chance on goal. JOE K making a fine double save, and while playing in defence taking the ball from an opponant, took on their midfield before playing a great pass allowing a team mate to shoot on goal. WES with his back to goal collecting a pass and turning a defender before rounding the keeper for a cool finish and setting up chances for the team. JOE T picking up the ball in his own box before goning the length of the pitch to score a fine individual goal and played some great passes to team mates. BRANDON was absolutely everywhere always in space to receive a pass, working back to help the defence and on the end of crosses to score. SAMER was also on fine form breaking up attacks and delivered great passes to create chances on goal. FIN loooked like he had been playing for the team for years, carrying and passing the ball well when in defence and joining the attack to put in some excelent crosses and attempts on goal. As always for our team, it was pleasing to see everyone play in different positions throughout the day. With defenders playing in goal and in midfield, midfield players playing up front and forwards palying in defence. Apart from a few tears at the end of the day, to do with image rights and giant bubble gum, it was a great day which we all enjoyed.
This experienced player celebrated his birthday in fine style yesterday. Having completed his studies during the day and the manager giving him the night off, he was ready to party late into the evening. Following his display at training, where we were treated to his singing and dancing talents, we can only imagine what he got up to last night and hope that he has saved some of his energy for training at the weekend. Liam hope you had a great time and enjoyed your Birthday.
The last day of the season saw all the Under 8 teams play their final games at Dersingham and we would like to thank Dersingham for their hospitality. We had a great day and once again we were proud of our team who put in a fantastic performance. With the Team Bus Driver getting a second chance and arriving on time we had high hopes for our team. Although the driver got the team to the game on time, the team did not finish sorting out their image rights and contracts with their agents until our first game had already strated. With the support of a capacity crowd, we saw great surging runs and good tackles from our defence, tireless work and neat passing from the midfield and some fantastic finishing from the forwards. The roar of the crowd, click of the camera's and excitment of the day saw the return of our old favourite superstars! KIERON (Bobby Moore) made a great diving save at an opponents feet to stop a chance on goal and delivered some excelent goal kicks. When defending tackled and passed well. ELLIOT (Clude Macalaylee) playing up front went on a mazy run confusing our opponents with a lovely drag back, then step over and finished the move with an inviting cross. When in defence let nothing pass him and moved the ball well into midfield. HARRY (Frank Lampard) played in defence and broke down every attack that came his way and delivered some cracking forward passess to set up our attacks. BRANDON (David Genloa) found space and caused our opponents to panic every time he had the ball, as every pass he made set up a chance on goal. JAKE (David Beckham) drifted past his opponents and delivered some of the finest crosses and through balls we have seen this season and made some fine defensive tackles. JOE.T (Wayne Rooney) was always a threat from free kicks and showed good skill when taking on opponents. Worked back well to help defend corners wining important headers, to set up counter attacks. LIAM (Andre Asharvin) linked play well showing some brilliant twists and turns to get himself in the box to shoot on goal or set up chances for the team. When in goal made some very good saves. GEORGE (Van Perse) Showed some lovely turns changing defence into attack and linked play from midfield to the forwards. Worked hard to prevent our opposition any time to shoot at goal. SAMIR (Gareth Barry) played in defence and midfield, let nothing pass him made well timed tackles and forward runs to set up chances on goal. WES (Michael Owen) worked hard to be in space to receive passes from midfield, defended from the front not allowing our opponents time on the ball, showed great skill when shooting and passing. When the last sausage roll was eaten and the biscuit crumbs were brushed away, the teams were presented with a medal, which we hope our team will wear with pride, as their performance deserved an award. Thanks to our traveling band of supporters, and to those who provided cake, biscuits, ect.
JOE. T celebrated his birthday in style with a well taken goal at Dersingham on Sunday. Despite turning 8, he has lost none of his pace and is still able to move around the pitch like Ryan Giggs at his peak!
We have asked the team driver to do something else, as despite good intentions he, keeps leaving the team on the bus at the start of games. Although the squad was on time they stayed on the bus for the first half of our first game this morning with our opposition enjoying the time to pass amonst themselves. Once they stretched their legs our team decided it was a shame to travel all this way and not play and put in some fine performances for their travelling fans. The squad continue to improve and work well as a team.
Playing on his Birthday, Brandon put in a fine performance, despite his aging years. The way he found space and passed the ball, you would never had guessed that he had reached the ripe old age of 8. This veteran player is an example to all mini soccer dudes. We would like to take this opportunity to wish coach Mick a speedy recovery from the back injury he suffered while giving Brandon the bumps! Happy Birthday from all the Under 8's
The Squad played Clenchwarton for the second week running and put in a good performance following a slow start. Once Brandons birthday cake kicked in the squad started to play and we saw great displays from every player. The squad proved again that they can play in more than one position with outfield players playing in goal and goalkeepers playing out on the pitch. Despite being his turn to be rseted ELLIOT came along to support his team and provided encouragement to his team mates all morning. With Mr Rednapp, Walter Smith, Sir Alex, Zola, Raffa, Anchelloti, Wenger and the other world class coaches being asked not to turn up for our remaining fixtures, the squad was left with having to listen to their regular Manager & Coaches. This seemed to work well as the squad found that if they listen they can learn, have fun & play well at the same time! After more cake we played Downham in another entertaining game. Like the Clenchwarton game every player worked hard and played well with the football being as good as the cake. Although every player put in a GOLD MEDAL performance, SAMER showed what he can do by putting in his best display of the season and was named MAN OF THE MATCH p.s When you see LIAM please you tell him his goal kicks were fantastic!
THE TEAM PLAYED VERY VERY WELL LAST WEEK WITH A NUMBER OF PLAYERS SHOWING YET AGAIN THAT THEY CAN PLAY IN MORE THAN ONE POSITION. GEORGE WAS THE PICK OF THE BUNCH WITH SOME TOUGH TACKLING AND PASSING AND SHOWING THE CROWD GREAT SKILLS WITH SOME FANTASTIC TURNS AND SETTING UP CHANCES ON GOAL
The Team played against very good opposition and came away with two win's, with excellent football being played by all. The day saw a realy realy fine fingertip save from Liam and a superbe indevidual goal from Joe.T with Jake and Wesley also on the score sheet. The midfield, Brandon, Geroge, Harry, worked hard and played great passes to help create the goals. Not to be outdone the defence, Joe.K, Elliot, Samer, also showed good passing and were involved in our goals. Including those who didnt play today, the whole squad has worked hard and learnt a lot during the summer and it was this hard work and teamwork that made todays results possible. WELL DONE UNDER 8's SQUAD
