Thorpe Utds Sunday Team were back in action after the Christmas period with a tough away tie against Shipton FC.

Thorpe went into the game wanting to carry on there good form from last year and from the start were up and at it!

Thorpe went ahead inside 10 minutes when Gary Collier has a speculative volley from 40 yards which crept under the diving Shipton keeper. 1-0

Thorpe were playing some good football with some good play down the wings from Watson and Lyon down the right and Emmet and O'Neil down the left with plenty of balls going in the box only for the Shipton defence to repel everything thrown at them.

Then from nothing a Defensive mix up allowed the Shipton striker a free shot which he finished with a neat lob. 1-1

Thorpe looked rattled but battled on to half-time 1-1

Jose Logue had some rousing words at hal-time and was not happy with the way we were working demanding more from his players.

The 2nd half started and Logues words were on deaf ears as a free-kick from 20 yards went straight through the middle of the Utd wall and into the corner past veteran Emery. 1-2.

Logue then changed the formation to 3-5-2 and introduced the returning Garner for injured Singleton.

This change had an immediate affect as within 5 minutes Garner followed in a Collier shot to smash home the equaliser.2-2

The goal then spurred Thorpe on knowing Shipton were dead on there feet pushed for the win and with 10 minutes remaining Brook cut in from the left and unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25 yards. 3-2
Then straight from kick off Thorpe went forward again with Brook finshing the game finshing from another Collier shot which was well saved by the keeper.4-2

Jose logue commenting after the game said after a poor 1st have performance my boys showed grit and determination to win the game and another 3 points on the board.
