In the end, it was a comfortable win to defeat Lingfield Youth 5-0 in the Final of the Horsham & District Youth FL. Fred Sparkes Challenge Cup.
Played on a hard pitch and with a strong wing, both teams found it difficult to control the ball. Three Bridges began to settle down and Jordan Mase had several chances to open the scoring and after 17mins he got his deserved goal as he collected a pass from Alfie Stark to score.
For the rest of the first half, the game got messy with both teams trying hard but with no real scoring chances.
Three Bridges came out for the second half fully motivated and and with Ollie Gill now on as a sub, Lingfield Youth began to struggle.
Both Ashley Mutongerwa and Ollie Gill had excellent chances saved by the opponents keeper but after 44mins Ollie Gill dribble his way through the defence to side foot the ball home 2-0.
A bad goal kick on 59mins enabled Ollie Gill to score his second of the match to make it 3-0.
With the pressure now off, Three Bridges always looked likely to score more goals as Lingfield Youth began to show signs of tiredness.
Ashley Mutongerwa scored the fourth goal after a cross from Billy Towning in a goalmouth scramble.
Chances were now coming to Gill, Stark and Mutongerwa but just before the final whistle it was sub Mackenzie Court who latched onto a corner taken by Mase to strike the ball home.
William Summers was named as Player of the Match for his tireless work in the mid-field.
After the match, Lingfield Youth admitted that the better team had won on the day and all credit must go to Manager Kenny Towning and his two Assistants Neil Hackworth and Leigh Mase for coaching such a talented squad of Players.
