Final
Vs Southdown 0-1

After the first match we played some fantastic football.  Cuckfield Cosmos United did not deserve to lose the game, but our never give up attitude and a worldy from Harry Charman in goal saw us win with virtually the last kick of the game.  2-1 down with a minute or so to go we had a fortuante break from a throw in flicked towards the keeper, ball bouncing down between his legs, for Matty to tap home from two yards.  From the kick off Cuckfield layed the ball back to their defence who knocked it long hoping to see out the final seconds.  Harry Charman ran off his line and shot the ball looping virtually the lenth of the pitch down the back of the opponents net, 3-2 and a massive get out of jail.

From there on though we played some really good football, not conceeding again in the group games or qualifiers.  A very even match against Perrywood in the quarter final was our reward for topping our group, who had been the best runners up.  A quality piece of football including Ollie and Columbus saw Matty knock in past the Perrywood keeper putting us 1-0 up.  Two defensive charges one each from Dylan and George stopped Perrywood having any real shot on goal and Harry didn't have too much work to do in goal.  Next up was Oakwood in the semi-final and two first half goals settled the nerves and the game taking us through to the final.

The final was a game not of the quality of some of our earlier matches as it was evident even second half of our semi that tiredness was settling in.  I'm sure it was the same for the opposition and so don't think either team played their best football.  With the game heading for penalties, and my changes made to take the pens, we conceeded a throw in our final third.  Southdown's big lad, Ollie, threw straight into the box, and Matty trying to flick over the goal to clear ended up putting it into the top of the net.  Even with massive disappointment the lads kept playing to the final whistle to try and get back level.  It wasn't to be and Southdown cheered the final whistle.

I couldn't be any prouder of the players though, after our first game we were terrific and our quality showed.  To have the team made up predominitely of our teams defenders, Harry C our striker in goal, with one game from Ollie, we played fantastic and showed how well all our players can keep the ball and pass it around.  Unfortunately we didn't have the luck of Chelsea today in the final.
