Man of the Match - Leigh Thompson

Well despite us trying to change the date of this game and the weather throwing everything at us, the game went ahead on a very heavy and wet pitch.

The game plan was to enjoy the final game, as it didnt matter points wise what the result was, but of course pride was there to be played for.

Looking at the pitch, we adopted a 4-3-3 formation to get the ball forward as quickly as possible and to get behind the back four and see what damage we could do...............

The first half went exactly to plan and one goal each from LEIGH TOMPSON, SAM JORDAN AND RICARDO PANTON saw us go in at half time 3-0 up. To be honest it should have been far more with all three strikers having good opportunities.

At half time, we spoke about the East  Grinstead game and how we were cruising.  We decided to go for it and it was more of the same as they say for the second half.

All best plans have faults and Northwood had decided not to let us have all our own way and threw the kitchen sink at us, 1-3 after 50 mins.

So we decided to revert to the tried and tested 4-4-2 formation putting young Ben Davis and Erik Gomes on taking off Hahn and Panton.

That paid dividends and we re-took the initative with a fourth goal and second for LEIGH THOMPSON then young ERIK GOMES weighed in with a goal too. Thompson had a couple of chances to finish with a hat trick.

A good result to end what to be honest has been a poor second half to the season, up until Xmas we had been looking at a top half finish but the wheels came off and instead we finished in the bottom half, not all games have been played but second from bottom is likely.

We have played lots of youth players from the U18 and some have really shone others have been steady and the club will benefit in the long run. There have been those that have fallen by the wayside but that always will be the case.

Unfortunately at the time of writing nothing has been discussed, reference next season so for now we would like to finish on congratulating the first team on writing another chapter in Three Bridges history and winning the SxCFL Division 1 with hopefully a promotion to  the Ryman Division 1 South football for next season. A big well done to you all, from the Reserve Team Management and Players.
