Report

a much improved performance from throston united gave the first division silks a run for their money as thorston battled to retain a bit of pride after the past few performances which resulted in them being the laughing stock of the opposition, this time though they respected throston as we controlled the first half and went into the break 1-1 after taking the lead with a great run and finish from the ever improving david iley, unfortunately silks drew level just before the half time whistle after an error from stand in goalkeeper michael sirs. second half started poorly for throston as they conceded on 60 minutes from another clanger from michael sirs as he dropped the ball straight to the feet of a silks striker from a corner, throston came straight back into the game after nathan williams was up-ended in the silks penalty area which resulted in scott wilson cooly converting the spot kick, throston piled on the pressure looking for the lead and won a corner on 70 minutes which led to a goal mouth scramble and what looked like a stone wall penalty for handball on the line but nothing was given to both teams amazement. after riding their luck silks pushed on and a ball played over the top led to a good finish from silks striker. silks 4th goal came after a bit of casual defending from gavin williams trying to shield the ball out of play only to be disposessed and then he cut it back for a simple open goal finish.silks 5th goal came 2 minutes from the end as throston pushed forward, a simple ball played over the top and the pacey forward for silks smashed into the back of the net
