Grindlesford 3 - 1 Tintwistle villa


After a dramatic 2007/08 season alot was expected of the new look tinny outfit going for the title this year. And the 1st 10 minutes saw the type of football that was expected at villa seing tom statham creating a clear cut oppurtunity only for their keeper to save, until complaincency crept in and the premier leagues new boys took control of the match.
A weiry offside decision allowed Grindlesford striker to run clean through on goal and slot into the corner.
Only 1 down at half - time billy gave the same stern team talk that saw tinny finish fourth last year and win the league cup, however the 2nd half jus went from bad to worse.
A mix up from new centre half simon statham saw a gently flighted free kick finished by their centre half to put them 2 up. And with the midfield looking tired a third was inevitable as raul failed to track back and their midfielder tapped into an empty net for their third.
A glimmer of hope was gifted when a through ball for tom statham saw him lift the ball over their stranded keeper, but it was to little to late as the new comers held out for a well desereved win. Better luck next time tinny!!!
