Buxton town 1 - 2 Tintwistle villa
Cup Final
After a dramatic season with so many talking points to name the stacks were against villa as we had not beaten a the top 3 sides all year. However optism was high after a 2-2 draw the week previous with the same side.
Billy sent out a strong team at buxton town ground (the semi professional ground that is!!) and with immediate affect things started coming off straight away.
After barely 5 minutes ronnie (leading scorer) was clean through only to hit the post and jamie to head the ball into an empty net to put the villa 1 nil up. knowing they had some good strikers villa couldnt rely on a small margine so piled forward to get the next 1. & with immediate affect a long throw from j d campbell & some shocking defending put jamaine through in the clear and slot over the keeper for tinnies 2nd. Other chances went begging as preisty hit the bar off the corner before buxton grabbed 1 back with some sloppy defending off a long throw.
The 2nd half saw the introduction off tom statham and the inevitable happened, buxton piling on the pressure to get the equaliser. But with priesty playing the game of his life and jamaine a hounddog in the center chances were limited. The last few minutes were like hours on the bench but tinny held out to claim their 1st trophy in 10 years, to the delight of all the crowd that made the long journey here.
On behalf of tintwistle villa we'd like to thank every1 who has been involved this year, on the pitch or behind the scenes and hope you have a very good summer. lets hope the title comes back next year!!! come on you villlllllaaaa
