Gents went into their final game of the season against Hele knowing that for both sides the result could affect who stays in the division next season.
As in the previous match last week it was a closely fought and highly competetive game. Kaz being warned early on for a late tackle, which may have earned a booking if it was later in the game.
Gents had the majority of possession but failed to capitalise giving the ball away at crucial times. The sides turned around goalless, but an impassioned half time talk underlining the fact that this could be Gents last ever game in their current guise seemed to do the trick.
Some neat passing produced a one on one opportunity for Liam McAuley who duly continued his goal a game ratio for Gents slotting home. Gents went further ahead when a similar chance was created for Ashley Hoare who made no mistake.
Gents then relaxed, maybe a little too much as Hele scored when the defence failed to deal with a cross from the right allowing the Hele attacker to volley home.
A scrappy final 15 minutes saw a couple of booking for Hele as Gents held on for a deserved win.
This took Gents to 28 points for the season which proved enough to finish above Hele who ended on 26 having lost their final game away to Bovey Tracey.
Big changes during the summer bode for a good season next year with a top half finish the minimum acceptable.
