2010/2011

The players have responded really well to new training methods, skill sessions, passing, defending and attacking drills and have shown a maturity beyond their years when taking on any new ideas the management team have put forward. To have finished third, behind two successful "A" league teams provides evidence as to have far we have come as a team and how much the players have responded to the challenge. We also more than matched those two sides, losing narrowly on a couple of occasions but also beating the champions on their own pitch in what was just one of several highlights.

We ended the season with the best home defensive record in the league, conceding just 7 goals. Our away record was better, in terms of wins, too. We managed to do the double over several sides in the league, scoring 12, 10, 8, 7 and 6 goals in single games along the way. Holding Ise Lodge in the second half of our our cup game gave the players some heart and showed us that we can compete with anyone in the league. In all, we kept 6 clean sheets in our 16 league games, conceding just 18 goals in all. Our attacking play was a pleasure to watch, scoring 73 goals along the way with Ben Preece (17), Will Clarke (15) and Will Orchard (27) getting 59 of the goals between them.

The team was ably led by skipper Tom Hill. A player who leads by example. He was joined by the rest of the squad: Liam Harding, Harry Williams, Kieran Chappell, Jack Jenkins, Liam Thompson, Karlan Taylor, Ben Preece, Brad Porter, Charlie Landsborough, Gregg Chambers, Daniel Peacock, Will Orchard, Ben Preece, Stefan Gilder, Charlie Daniells and Tyler Dutton. Each person gave their all and I sincerely hope they enjoyed playing for Towcester Town as much as I enjoyed managing them. We now look to recruit other players and attempt to become an even more competitive side for next season. Whatever that may bring.
