Final day of the season, we knew that a result would see us finish 3rd for the 2nd season running and 3 or more goals would see us lead the scoring charts + finish on a higher points tally than last season - still we found something to play for!
We started well and even though the heat took its toll and the game was played at a slow pace we were always in control. A loss today for Emerald would see them relegated but we felt we owed it to the other teams battling at the bottom to give it a shot (plus 3rd slot was ours for the taking). Dwane scored a sweet hat trick today getting a rare header from a great ball in from Lejeurne, Wes opened the scoring with a cheeky free kick (one step run up floated into the top corner to take his tally for the season to 20 and take the golden boot) and Ginger got a peach of a volley from the edge of the box.
An own goal saw them take a consolation 2nd goal and Tom saved well from the spot after Matty had brought one of their players down. I can't talk about the 1st goal they scored as I was doing my second or third water boy run at the time back to the chaning rooms as Water was destroyed by the gallon.
Overall a good end to a poor season - 3rd spot snatched from nowehere when we were 2nd bottom at one point, the most goals for of any side in the division and a higher points tally than last year. A few positives and a good end of season winning 6 of our last 8 league games. That form prior to Xmas could have seen us challenging this year so all to play for next campaign.

In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
