george came to the club in 1985 and was the top scorer every year until he left in 1996.with an uncanny knack of being where it mattered he rattled in over 300 goals.his great asset was never be afraid to miss.many a centre half said "i never gave him a kick" only to find he had scored 2.his goalscoring tally will surely never be beaten by anyone in an anvil jersey.some of his antics off the park cannot be revealed as some of the players today might be related to him

a 6 foot midfielder with an engine of a mercedes who could also play bob was a opponents nightmare.bob scored some important goals but it was his never say die attitude which made his game so strong.he also played in goal on a number of occasions with great ease.pitching in with 10-15 goals a season was a great return.his relationship with wee pat was a treasure on many occasions especially once at blantyre when the wedding presents were told to be shoved up your A**E

the wee man had tremendous skill and the heart of a lion.so many times opponents would foul him but he got up and went again.some games he was unplayable most notably on a famous night at larkhall when 3-0 down with 15 mins to play stevie got the winner in injury time..another player who pat had a love hate relationship with famously at dalziel when told to chase back stevie replied with "he`s done nuthin but score"

the englishman started of as a winger with the anvil and played successfully there for 2 seasons before becoming the regular keeper.a strong running outfield player he was a consistant scorer for the team then became a top class keeper who took the penalties.many an opposing goalie was left red faced when gary came up to take a free kick which ended up in the net

nicknamed buster he was a midfield player that could score 15-20 goals a season.opposing midfielders hated his non stop running.raymond was noted for scoring at the back post most notably a league title clinching goal in the last minute of the last game at glenboig.he was sent off in a divisional cup final win after 2 fouls which brought much hilarity considering he never tackled anybody in his career
