14 Jun 2011

Uddingston Anvil was formed as an Amateur Football Team in early 1985 and later that year they joined the Lanarkshire Amateur League. The Lanarkshire was the strongest League in Scotland at that time with teams regulary competing in the finals of national and district cups.
Uddingston Anvil started life in the 6th division which was duly won along with the divisional cup.
The next 4 years were trophy laden with 3 more League titles won as well as 3 Divisional cups and the John Roan cup.
Season 1993/94 saw the team win the Lanarkshire 1st Division after being runners up twice.
Season 1995/96 finally seen the Anvil win the coveted Lanarkshire Cup after losing 3 finals.
The Club then decided to join the Central Scottish League in 1998 and are now a much established member of the league.
2009/2010 season saw Uddingston Anvil win a return to the Premier division of the league.
The players and the committee are still mostly local boys who take great pride in representing Uddingston and continue to strive to bring even more success to the area.
