Following the superb midweek cup final victory over Benchill, the Falcons finished their season with hard fought 3-3 draw against Wythenshawe Ams.
On an uneven surface (somewhat different from that encountered at Trafford FC!!) it was to the credit of both sides that the match was as enjoyable as it was.
The Falcons started very brightly and dominated most of the early exchanges and should have taken a commanding 2 or 3 goal lead by mid way through the first half. However Wythenshawe's more direct approach paid dividends as defenders failed to clear long balls that reached attackers in too much space inside the box who then finished clinically from close range. A superb free kick from Ed sandwiched between the opposition's goals meant the Timperley side reached half time one goal in arrears.
H-T 1-2
Two early strikes from Hussain and Jamie saw the Falcons take the lead for the first time soon after the interval and it seemed onlya matter of time before a comfortable lead was established. However Wythenshawe were always dangerous on the break and with 10 minutes to go, levelled when a lob evaded the outstretched grasp of the Falcons keeper. Despite chances at both ends neither side could grab the winner.
Although the season did not finish on the win that was hoped for the Falcons can take great pride in their performances this season. An excellent style of passing football has been established which hopefully can be carried into the youth league next year.
