History - 1919 to 2005

First Team History
The first record of a football club at the Upton St. Leonard’s is 1920-21 season. In which it states the club had been formed in 1919 with a Mr. A. R. Green as the secretary and playing football at the Upton recreation ground, with the changing facilities at the parish room in Upton, they were members of the North Gloucester League where they had two successful seasons winning division 3 in 1920-21 season and again in 1921-22 season. But in the 1925-26 and 1926-27 season the club was disbanded.

It started up again in the 1927-28 season with the date of formation as 1927 with Mr. Green as the secretary again, the team were members of the North Gloucester league and won the premier league in 1935-36 season and division 2 in 1953-54 season. Once again in the 1957-58 and 1958-59 seasons the club was disbanded and reformed in the 1959-60 season with Mike Long as secretary.

In 1966 the club joined the Stroud District league division 5. The club expanded in 1973-74 season to include a Upton reserve team playing in division 6. The first team won the league division 5 in 1975-76 and won their first charity cup in 1976-77 season beating Uley 3-1 in the final. They also won their first County cup final when they defeated Ebrington United 1-0 at Shipton Oliffes ground in 1979-80 season.

They then went on to win three more Charity cups against Randwick 4-1 in 1991-92 season, Horsley 2-1 in 1996-97 season and Leonard Stanley 2-0 in 2000-01 season. They went on to win the league division 4 in 1977-78 season they then steadily climbed the divisions and made it to division 1 in 1992-93 season. The club finished runners up on two occasions in 1993-94 and 1997-98 and so nearly stepped up into the northern senior league.

Reserve Team History
Formed in 1973-74 in division 6 of the Stroud league. They won division 5 in 1980-81 season and reached their first charity cup final in the same season but lost 2-1 to Didmarton at CopeChat ground.

They went on to reach four more charity cups being losing finalists twice and winning in 1994-95 season against Taverners 2-0 at Stonehouse ground and in 1999-2000 season beating Nympsfield on Penalties 5-4 after a 1-1 draw after extra time at Brimscombe's ground.

3rd Team History
In 1995-96 Upton 3rds was formed playing in division 7 at Meadow Park, this proved fruitful as in their first season they won league division 7 and the charity cup defeating Charfield O-B. 4-1 at Tuffley Rovers ground in the final.
