Vulcan entered the Blackpool 2009 tournament and reached the quarter final stages. Getting off to a great start with 2 victories in their opening 2 matches, Vulcan were enjoying their time by the seaside. Injuries and fatigue took their toll in the later stages of the competition, but against quality opposition Vulcan more than held their own. Our parents also enjoyed the trip and who can ever forget the late night card games of chase the ace! Overall a good trip and one to put in the diary for next year.

Vulcan entered 2 teams in the St.Julies parish gala football tournament, and the Cougars after finishing second in the group stages, had resounding victories in the semi-final and final. For the record book the scores were; Billinge 0 Vulcan 2 (g)Vulcan 0 Penlake 1 (g) Millfields (V)o Vulcan 0 (g) Golborne 0 Vulcan 3 (g) and Millfields (u)1 Vulcan 3 (g). Semi- Final Golborne (a)0 Vulcan 2. The Final Vulcan 3 Millfields (u)0. Well done to everyone involved. This is the first final we have played in and the first trophy we have won in our short history. Special mention to the Panthers who were competitive until a bit of tiredness crept in in the last couple of matches. All in all a great day!
