Andy was a mobile, hard tackling full back before he turned his talents to athletics and became a leading member of St Helens (Sutton) AC Cross Country and Track teams, also recording some excellent times on the road.

Whilst supporting his sons in their football careers, Andy returned to his first love and became involved as assistant coach at Newton.

This led to a revival of the Vulcan Juniors at under 12-s level and, following a campaign of adverts in local shops etc., the club was up and running.

Andy is now qualified as an F.A. Coach at Level 1 and has full C.R.B. checking and a child Protection certificate.
