Wakefield Jets Junior Football Club was formed in 2002, to provide safe and professional junior football for children in the Outwood and wider Wakefield area. From just two teams at the outset, the Club has developed significantly, and for the 2010 season we will have Boys age groups at Under 9s, 10s, 11s, 2 x 12s, 15s, 2 x 18s and an Under 16s Girls team. We are based at Ledger Lane School in Outwood for our mini football age groups, while our older age groups are part of the Sports development partnership at Horbury Road, alongside Old Thornesians FC, the Azad Cricket Club and Wakefield Golf Club. The partnership works closely with the Sport and Recreation department of Wakefield Council, and the site is currently in the process of building a new Clubhouse facility which will provide high quality changing and recreation facilities to us and the partner Clubs.

A key recent development has been the award of FA Charter Development standard for the Club, a step up from the base level Charter standard, which builds on the criteria for Charter standard (affiliation to FA, School-Club links established, using The FA Respect Codes of Conduct, having a Child Welfare Officer, First Aid commitments etc) and is awarded when a Club t least five affiliated teams - You must have at least five teams that play in an FA affiliated league, a Five Year Development covering the Club Vision, Growth and Retention plans, committing to raising Standards in Junior football, holding Parents’ nights and update events, improved levels of coaching and expected behaviour.

We are delighted to now hold this accreditation, it provides formal recognition that we run the Club in the right way and for the right reasons – to provide safe, reliable, expansive and focussed football for youngsters in the Wakefield area. We aim to continue to grow, our committee is fully committed to making this the Club of choice for youngsters in Wakefield.

It is an exciting time for the Club, and we are aiming to fill in the missing age groups and looking for new recruits for all other age groups.
