Jets were warmed up at 14.00 today, and frustrated that Hemsworth hadn't made it out of the dressing room! Eventually, they turned out with only 10 men and 10 minutes late, leaving Jets clearly very keen to get down to business. And so it began, we netted within 5 minutes thanks to Jack Parlett, at which point Hemsworth managed to get an 11th player on the pitch, but by now the floodgates had opened, with the the entire defence staying really solid and taking the opportunity to press forward in support of the strikers. The play in the first half was mainly down the right hand side, with David and Chris connecting well and feeding the strikers well, such that Jack bagged a further 4 goals before half time. At 5-0 up we took the opportunity to get all subs on, and we continued to put immense pressure on HM, and used the left hand side more effectively with Lewis and Luke inter-playing well, and Luke bagged number 6 with a long ranger. The last five goals came at regular intervals, with Jack Parlett making it a double hat-trick and Jed Carr taking a brace, the second of which was a cheeky little number tapped up and volleyed over the keeper. Luke Hammond bagging a confident brace, and Thomas Edward scored a nice one, selflessly assisted by Jack. Matty Scott performed very strongly at left back, and Jamie impressed in midfield but towards the end of the game Jets got a little complacent and allowed HM to get a consolation goal, but the scoreline stood at 11-1. Jack Parlett was Coaches Player of the Match, with Ryan Bowie taking the Parents Player of the Match for an energetic and powerful perfrmance at Centre-half. Keelan Attwood once again putting in a strong performance.
We secured 10 goals towards the goal difference tally, and this means we've taken all 6 points from Hemsworth this season, something we would not have done in previous years. Although the opposition was weak, we used the game to show how our passing game can open major scoring opportunities. Our squad remains very strong, we have options all over the pitch. Those players who are subs, please don't let your heads drop, keep training hard and your day will come, it's important we stick together as a squad.
