Walsall Ladies 1st team 1
Bourne United 2
Kick Off : 02:00 Meeting Time : 01:00

Walsall built on the positives from last week and started well against Bourne and dominating early possession and creating a few half chances. 16 year old debutant Demi Yates seizes her opportunity on left wing and was a constant threat playing like a player of many years experience. Walsall continued to pass the ball around crisply earning free kick after free kick as Bourne struggled to cope with their fluidity. Walsall took advantage of one such free kick on the half hour mark when Donna Ash struck a 18 yard free kick over the despairing keeper into the roof of the net. Walsall built on their dominance and continued to control the game up to half time reducing Bourne to a handful of long range efforts and over hit long balls. As the second half began the balance of power turned quickly in the favour of Bourne who settled well and controlled possession keeping Walsall at arms length and increasing pressure on the Walsall goal. The pressure finally paid off when Walsall gave a needless free kick away 25 yards out which the Bourne player smashed in with some style and power. This proved to be the turning point in the game as Bourne increased the pressure and Walsall allowed their heads to drop and conceded a second when they failed to deal with another long ball attack and the Bourne striker sneaked in between two defenders to finish easily. Despite the set backs Walsall did play some good football as the second half continued and truth be told had good opportunities to equalise and probably even win but were unable to take their chances. On balance the resilt did not reflect the match as a whole but the positives far out weighed the negatives for Walsall this week.
