Derby day arrived early on in the season and to add extra spice it was a top of the table clash. Lostock in their traditional white shirts and WLD in their yellow shirts.
WLD knew that nothing short of a top performance would do today. Lostock started the game very strong though with the left winger and strikers both causing problems.
Walton started to settle though and had some good chances but nothing clear cut. It was Lostock Hall who took the lead and deservedly so after some good pressure.
Half Time 1-0
WLD came out strong in the second half and equalised after 8 minutes through Kyle. Some good team play saw WLD control the game and have wave after wave of attacks. It paid off when Kyle put WLD ahead with his second of the day. Kyle was proving to be a real threat. Great work by the midfield ensured WLD continued to press and after a long through ball saw the LH keeper in no mans land Chris closed him down quick and got the ball across to Kyle who chested it down and tapped in for his hatrick, 3-1, so we thought. Lostock Halls linesman (also assistant manager) had flagged for hand ball and the referee went with the decision. The game now opened up and with 5 minutes to go Lostock Hall equalised.
The result was probably a fair reflection of the game overall, however WLD feel very hard done by the disallowed goal. The game was a superb advert for the CLJFL. Both teams put in 100% effort and once again remain unbeaten with another away game notched off on a less than good pitch. Lots of games to go and a very close league mean that all is to play for.
