Our football club began life in 1947. It was founded by the miners of the Washington 'F' Pit. All that now remains of the colliery is the Pit Head (pictured above) which is now a museum. The club however continues to provide opportunties for people all ages to play football.
For Season 2011/2012 the club will field a Senior team in the Second Division of the STL Northern League. Home games will be played at the Nissan Sports Complex. We will also have one junior team playing at Under 14 level in the Russell Foster Junior League.
A second Saturday Senior team (Washington Town F.C.) will play at Albany Park in the Durham Alliance League. A further senior team and two junior teams will play at Albany Park on Sundays.
Richard Latimer will be first team manager and also coach the junior team. He will be assisted by Nicky Evans who will also play for the senior team. John-Lee Lydon will be responsible for player fitness and play for the senior side.The senior team open their 2011/2012 League campaign with a home match against Morpeth Town. Not eligible for the F.A. Cup this year, the F.A Vase draw will be made on Friday 8 July 2011.
