Watton United played their first senior league cup final for 22 years in on Wednesday 7th May 2008 at Trafford Park, Wroxham.
Against a strong Hempnall side who played a league higher, we ended up losing by the solitary goal 1-0!!!

Watton last visited Trafford Park Wroxham in the 1986 Anglian Combination Mummery League Cup Final, on Tuesday 13th May 1986, where they played Beccles Town FC.

Watton United FC (formerly RAF Watton FC) played in the East Anglian League from 1949-50, joining the Anglian Combination in 1964, when it was formed as an amalgamation of the East Anglian League and the Norfolk & Suffolk League. They were champions in 1967, 1968 and 1986.
They were promoted to the Eastern Counties Football League at level nine of the English football league system in 1986 and when a second division was created, in 1988, played in the Eastern Counties Football League Premier Division, still at level nine.
The club resigned from the league in the 1990s, returning to the Anglian Combination in Division 2.
In 2000-01, they were promoted to Division 1. They were Division 1 champions in 2003-04 and were promoted to the Premier Division.
They were relegated at the end of the 2005-06 season, but returned to the Premier Division in 2007-08 as Division 1 runners up. They now play in Anglian Combination Premier Division.
The reserves were reformed in 2000/01 after the club pulled the first team out of the Ridgeons league. They won Reserve Division 3 that year. In 2008-09 they were promoted from Division 5 to Division 4 finishing sixth.
The 'A' team play in Central and South Norfolk Crown & Fire League, but pulled out of Division 2 due to lack of interest at the end of the 2008/09 season.
The club formed an over 35's Veterans team in the 2008/09 season. They currently play in the Norfolk and Suffolk Veterans League Division 3 North.
The club plays its home games at Watton Sports and Social Club, located on Dereham Road, Norfolk, IP25 6EZ.
