Formed in 1961 as Wednesfield Social Club, the club started off playing in the Wolverhanpton and District Amateur League quickly progressing to the Premier division, winning the Championship on four occasions along with three league cups.
In 1976 the club entered the West Midlands League First Division winning it at the first attempt by two points over Tipton Town, the following season saw further success with runners up spot to Chasetown thus delivering promotion to the Premier division.
A high point in the history of the club came in 1985 when after beaing West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns 5-1 the team lost in final of the Birmingham Senior Cup 2-0 to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
December 1990 saw Wednesfield playing under floodlights but sadly these and other changes to the Cottage Ground failed to bring promotion. The club then won two successive Bank's League Premier Divion titles in 95/96 & 96/97 bringing the reward of Midland Alliance League football to Wednesfield.
The 2001/02 season saw Wednesfield finish 3rd and enjoy a fine run in the Birmingham Senior Cup beating Birmingham City before losing 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion in the semi final.
The pre-season of the 2002/03 brought a new committee and a new management pairing who were thrown in the deep end with no money, no players and liitle optimism from outside the club. In a season with more highs than lows Wednesfield finished bottom despite great efforts from everyone involved.
After four years of consolidation in the league and hard work on and of the pitch the 2007/08 season has started very well under the new management team of Andy Rutter and Kevin Foster.
The club are now settled in the West Midlands Regional League and are concentrating on developing the Youth Policy at the club. Wednesfield are now an F.A Charter standard club and have teams ranging from unders 7's up to Adult along with an academy for the under 7's. We also have Wednesfield Ladies F.C who have one adult sides along with two under 13's & one under 14's
