How the U13 team was formed

Welland Valley U13 was formed in June 2005 as the new U8 team. An advert invited players of all abilities to come along and join the team.

We managed to sign on nine players ready for the 2005/2006 season. We trained during the summer months having several friendlies in readiness for the new season ahead.

In September 2005 we started off in the C section of the Northampton & District Youth Alliance League Known locally as the John Henry League. After playing our first eight games we were moved upto the B section, then following a further eight games we were moved upto the A section. The team played really well and this enabled them to gain two straight promotions.

The team then dropped back down to the B section for the start of the 2006/2007 season. The team moved straight back upto the A section after winning all seven games in the B section scoring 46 goals for & conceding only 9 against.

After the next seven games the team finished fourth in the A section. In the final set of eight games the team finished the season second in the A section.

The team also won the knockout cup final at Sixfields stadium beating Soccer Stars 3-2 in their first competitive season.

The team had a successful first season at 11 a-side finishing third in the league & runners up in the All Weather U11 NTFA Cup Final.

In the 2009-10 season the team won the U12 NDYAL league title to become champions winning 15 games, drawing once and losing only two games all season scoring an impressive 103 goals along the way. The team also reached the U12 knockout cup final at Sixfields Stadium and after a closely contested match which finished 2-2 aet the boys narrowly lost on penalties.

The U13 team try to play football the right way with good passing football and with some new signings are looking forward to the new 2010-11 season.
