How Welland Valley was formed

Welland Valley Football Club was formed in the summer of 1998 by David Joyner and Tom Carr. The club started off with one team at U8 & one team at U9 that played in the Nursery 7's Milton Keynes League.

In 1999 the club grew to four sides & all the teams were registered with the Northampton & District Youth Alliance League known locally as the John Henry League in Northampton.

Tom Carr became the club chairman and through his contacts secured the sponsorship of Harrison Murray estate agents. The club started off playing with predominantly white shirts with bits of blue & yellow changed it's colours to that of the Harrison Murray logo which are navy blue, yellow and white which we are proud to say we still have today.

In 2002 with the hard work of Tom Carr Welland Valley were able to secure their own ground in conjunction with the council at Wootton Brook on Ladybridge Drive in West Hunsbury. The ground has four youth pitches and three mini-soccer pitches. In the summer of 2003 Welland Valley had it's first summer tournament where the Harrison Murray cup was played for by children in six age groups. The club work closely with the council & the residents around Wootton Brook.

The club has grown into one of the largest in the town with well over one hundred & fifty children playing for the club. Welland Valley has qualified coaches that try to get the children playing football the right way in a safe environment.

Welland Valley has teams at U7, U8, U9 x2, U10, U11, U13 x2, U14, U15 and U16. During the coming seasons the club will be trying to start a girls team.

In December 2006 with hard work from Chairman Mick Watts, Treasurer Barry Pooley, & U11 manager Paul Batty, Welland Valley were able to secure a new sponsorship deal with Harrison Murray.
